Legrand has launched INSPYRA, a new range of wiring devices for residential and commercial buildings, adding a product line to its electrical accessories business in Australia and New Zealand.

The range includes switches and electrical accessories with a slimline profile and floating rocker design, developed for contemporary interiors in both new builds and renovation projects.

Available finishes include black, grey, white and other matte colours, along with brassed and patterned variants for custom applications. The commercial line uses a gloss finish, creating separate styling options for different building segments.

Legrand is positioning the launch around design and installation. Integrated screw caps and an assembled plate-and-dolly system are intended to support faster fitting and a cleaner finish for electricians.

Other installer-focused elements include pre-mounted screws, aligned terminals and a switch mechanism designed for easier unclipping during servicing and maintenance. A compact general-purpose outlet mechanism is also intended to free up space behind the plate during installation.

The product line also includes smart home and connected building functions, supporting internet-connected features, integrated USB-C charging and app-based control through Legrand's Home + Pro platform.

Lighting control is part of the offer, with push-button operation, dimmers and colour light management included in the range. These features place the collection in a part of the market where electrical hardware is increasingly expected to meet both practical and interior design needs.

Palash Nandy, Chief Executive Officer of Legrand Australia and New Zealand, outlined the company's position on the launch.

"We're excited to launch INSPYRA, which brings refined design, intuitive functionality and practical installation benefits into one cohesive collection. INSPYRA's design and value deliver a consistent solution across a wide range of projects, budgets and customer needs, enabling everyday Australians to transform their living and working spaces with creativity, confidence and ease," said Palash Nandy, Chief Executive Officer of Legrand Australia and New Zealand.

Sustainability focus

The collection is manufactured using 80 per cent recycled plastic and packaged in what Legrand describes as Australia's first paper-based packaging system for this product category. According to the company, this removes single-use plastic packaging across the line.

The packaging shift comes as manufacturers across the building products sector face pressure from customers and regulators to reduce plastic waste and improve the environmental profile of construction materials. Wiring accessories are a small component of total building cost, but high-volume product categories can still generate substantial packaging waste across distribution networks and work sites.

More than 60 per cent of the collection is produced in South-Western Sydney, according to Legrand. That local manufacturing footprint gives the group an Australian production base for most of the line while keeping part of the design and engineering work tied to its wider operations in Australia and Europe.

Market position

The launch reflects a broader shift in the electrical fittings market, where vendors are trying to differentiate products once treated largely as commodities. Design finishes, charging access, smart controls and ease of installation have become more prominent selling points for wholesalers, contractors, architects and homeowners.

For Legrand, the product appears aimed at several buying groups at once. Contractors and electricians are being targeted with labour-saving features, while architects and interior designers are being offered a broader range of finishes and visual styles.

The collection is intended to address a range of project types and budgets, from residential spaces to commercial developments. That gives Legrand a way to place the line across different channels, including distributors and wholesalers serving both trade and specification markets.

Legrand operates globally in electrical and digital building infrastructure and employs about 40,000 people worldwide. In Australia, the INSPYRA launch adds to competition in a market where local manufacturing, sustainability claims and product styling are becoming more visible in procurement decisions.

The collection is now available through authorised distributors and wholesalers, with more than 60 per cent of the range produced in South-Western Sydney.
